SDSS’s Hon. Shri Annasaheb DangeAyurved Medical College, Ashta was started in 1999 with an intention to providehigher education in health to the rural population. The college is approved by NationalCouncil for Indian System of Medicine [NCISM] & Ministry of AYUSH,Government of India, New Delhi. It is an ISO-2015 certified institution and hasbeen accredited with ‘B+’ Grade by NAAC, Bangalore. Ours is the first unaidedcollege in India to go through accreditation process.

The institute offers undergraduatecourse with 100 intake capacity, post graduate course in 06 departments with 36 intake capacity, and Ph.D. programmes in 09 departments with 27 intakes peryear. Great care has been taken to ensure that the infrastructure and equipmentsat the college are one of the best.  Thecollege has well equipped laboratories, herbal garden, pharmacy, clinics,hospital facilities and dedicated faculty. Herbal garden is cultivatedmeticulously with 1200 species, some very rare and endangered. The garden isdesigned according to Nakshatra and grahas. QR coding for all medicinal plants.

Authentic Ayurvedic treatments likeKsharasutra, Agnikarma, Panchkarma with supporting modern treatments areprovided at OPD & IPDs through our hospital, Dhanwantari Rugnalaya.Management of some health conditions is done through Panchbhoutik Chikitsa.Health camps, adoption of villages for health care, providing health care inflood affected areas and other such activities are planned and conductedaccording to the situation and need. Programs like Aarogya Jagruti Abhiyan (Healthawareness program) and Aarogya aplya dari (Health at your doorstep) are done toreach out to the public at large. We had a 60 bedded COVID Care Centre with ICUcare and oxygen beds.

We have an experienced and highlyskilled faculty. Some faculty members have to their credit, research paperspublished in indexed journals. Active interaction between faculty, otheracademicians & professionals in the field by way of seminars, workshopsgive the students variety of experiences. Various research activities areconducted, not only at PG and Ph.D.levels, but also at UG level. Ourstudents have brought accolades to the college at academic levels withUniversity gold medals and through research presentations. The college has beenconducting events like National and state level seminars, workshops, CMEs andsymposiums to provide wide exposure to intra mural growth of students. Organand Body Donation awareness programs are done by our faculty in and aroundAshta since 2016. Body donation campaign has become a success story. We havereceived 05 bodies and 25 consents from the same so far. 

The management has made efforts in building the student personalitiesthrough facilitating and providing them with various extramural activities.Required infrastructure and staff to promote such activities has been madeavailable in the vicinity. Kala Academy, A separate unit for all art formslike music, singing, dance, drama, etc. is available for the students. Music, Yoga and Meditation Halls, Gymnasium along with instructors are available. Sports Complex with the most modern resources for indoorgames like Badminton, Table Tennis, Basket ball, Carom, Pool Billiards, etc areavailable. Huge playground for outdoor games is maintained well. Apartfrom these infrastructural facilities, the institution has organized andconducted inter college competitions for Basket ball, Cricket, etc. KridaMahotsav 2017, a coaching camp for University players was organized and managedby the institution in collaboration with MUHS.

In thecoming days, we aspire to get accredited by NABL and NABH. We are in theprocess of developing simulation and skill lab and classrooms with modern ICTfacilities. We are in the process of collecting manuscripts for digitalisation.
